Unit of Social Reconciliation (USR)
The Unit of Social Reconciliation (USR) was established in 2025 at Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University. Its primary goal is to promote social cohesion, understanding, and peace across Sri Lanka.
Vision: To become a leading academic and community unit dedicated to promoting social reconciliation and lasting peace in the country
Mission: To promote mutual understanding, interaction, and cooperation amongst various communities by executing outreach, education, and research initiatives.
Main Functions
- Develop, adopt, refine, review, and enhance policies to promote social harmony.
- Facilitate capacity building, research, workshops, conferences and activities that support peacebuilding and youth empowerment.
- Celebrate national festivals, host exhibitions, and promote cultural activities such as dance, drama, and musical performances to foster harmony.
- Implement youth exchange programs on conflict resolution and peace studies.
