The Library of Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, successfully hosted the “Canvas of Culture” – Art Exhibition 2025 on 5th June 2025, under the theme “Roots and Wings: Celebrating Trincomalee’s Heritage and Visions for a Sustainable Future.” The event was organized by the Library Network of Eastern University, Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Students’ Unions of the faculties of Trincomalee Campus, under the patronage of the Library Quality Assurance Cell (LQAC) of Eastern University, Sri Lanka.
Designed to connect students with the library through creative engagement, the exhibition showcased a diverse range of artistic expressions by university students school children and public community across the province. Coordinated by Ms. Krishanthy Sivalingam, Assistant Librarian, Trincomalee Campus, the event was structured around thematic sections reflecting key ideas such as heritage, gender equality, environmental sustainability, collaboration, and personal expression all aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. S. Thadchanamoorthy, Acting Rector of Trincomalee Campus, as the Chief Guest. Prof. (Mrs.) F. Bharathy Kennedy, Director of Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies, EUSL; Dr. W. J. Jeyaraj, Chairman of LQAC and Librarian of Eastern University, Sri Lanka; and Prof. (Mrs.) Chandravathany G. Devadason, Former Rector of Trincomalee Campus, attended as Guests of Honour. Special Guests included Mr. T. Baskar, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Business Studies, and Dr. V. Anavarathan, Dean of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine.
The exhibition featured over 150 creative works, including paintings and crafts. A traditional cultural performance by undergraduates from the Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies added vibrancy to the event. A mural gifted by Zahira College was also a remarkable creation of the exhibition.
